L’Assessment Plateforme TAO va être en ligne – dans le cadre de la conférence „ TAO Days “

Le CRP Henri Tudor et l’Université du Luxembourg lancent une plateforme open source de “testing assisté par ordinateur“

Luxembourg, le 24 février 2010 – Les élèves de la 5ème sont-ils doués en mathématiques? Les élèves ont-ils intégré les connaissances enseignées? Peut-on évaluer les compétences visio - spatiales d’un candidat par le biais d’un test? Quelles sont les connaissances spécifiques d’un candidat lors d’un recrutement professionnel ? Ces questions sont des exemples de problèmes pouvant être résolus grâce à « TAO »,

plateforme open source de « testing assisté par ordinateur ». TAO est également utilisé dans le cadre d’études internationales, commanditées par l’OCDE, comme par exemple PISA („Programme for International Student Assessment“) et PIAAC („Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies“).

Cette nouvelle plateforme est le résultat d’une collaboration couronnée de succès entre le département CITI du Centre de Recherche Public Henri Tudor et l’unité de recherche EMACS de l’Université du Luxembourg.

Une équipe internationale de 25 personnes, composée de psychologues, de pédagogues, de statisticiens et d’informaticiens, travaille sur ce projet depuis 2002. Les scientifiques du CRP Henri Tudor et de l’Université du Luxembourg sont convaincus du caractère innovant de la plateforme TAO, dû à sa conception et à son éventail de prestations.

Dans le cadre d’une conférence scientifique, les « TAO Days 2010 » qui auront lieu les 10 et 11 mars à l’Abbaye de Neumünster, la mise en ligne de la plateforme sera annoncée au public et parallèlement, la communauté « TAO open source » sera créée. A partir de ce moment, TAO pourra être utilisé sans restrictions et gratuitement. Des institutions de recherche vont ainsi être capables de s’interconnecter et d’avancer de manière collaborative dans la réalisation de tests à travers le monde. Des chercheurs, des enseignants, des psychologues scolaires, des responsables de recrutement et toutes autres personnes intéressées par le domaine de l’évaluation auront ainsi la possibilité de développer leurs propres tests de contrôle de performances et de les interpréter. De plus, TAO inclut une panoplie de modèles de questions et de tests mise à la disposition de la communauté. La plateforme permet en outre de partager en ligne les questions et les tests créés.

Les principaux conférenciers des « TAO Days » seront Prof. Dr Romain Martin de l’Université du Luxembourg, Thibaud Latour du CRP Tudor, Prof. Dr Benő Csapó, Institute of Education, University of Szeged et William Thorn, Senior Analyst de l’OCDE. Romain Martin et Thibaud Latour sont les principaux responsables du projet TAO, ils présenteront son développement et ses potentialités. Benő Csapó et William Thorn démontreront l’utilité de TAO dans les futures études nationales et internationales.

EMACS receives GRUNDTVIG quality label

Study visit of French and Spanish partners in Luxembourg: EMACS Unit receives "Grundtvig 2008-2010" quality label

A study visit organised in the framework of the EMACS-lead Grundtvig project on school dropouts took place on the 16th and 17th June in Luxembourg. Several partners from the University of Palma de Mallorca, from the French AFEV (Association de la Fondation Etudiante pour la Ville) and from FREREF, a network of around 20 member regions in Europe and Quebec, took part in the meetings and visits organised by the EMACS Unit. Main topic of interest was the Luxembourg policy of fighting school dropping out and of giving young people a second chance to improve their competencies and qualifications. Meetings took place at the CNFPC (Centre national de la formation professionnelle continue), the ALJ (Action Locale pour Jeunes) and the Ministry of Education and Training. The concept of the planned second chance school of Luxembourg was also presented to the visitors.

At the final meeting at the Ministry, a representative of ANEFORE, the national agency for the implementation of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the Commission, awarded the "Grundtvig 2008-2010" quality label to the partnership.

E-Learning in the 21st Century:

3rd Charter E-Learning Conference at the University of Luxembourg, Campus Walferdange

Bob Reuter, Lecturer and Researcher in Educational Technology is organizing this conference.
It will further explore concrete educational technology solutions as well as their impact on general learning and teaching strategies within higher education institutions of the charter network.
Recent developments in the field of Information and Communication Technologies have indeed challenged and changed the way we think about and conceive learning and teaching in higher education. While for many years digital technologies were more or less used as substitutions of traditional educational media, the recent explosion of social media and mobile ICT has more fundamentally changed our relations to knowledge and to technologies. Higher education will have to move beyond simple transmission of existing knowledge in order to move towards the collaborative construction of new knowledge and its usage in meaningful settings. Universities of the 21st century will have to help their students to become empowered citizens and efficient and adaptable professionals in an ever evolving knowledge and information society.
